Illinois School District U-46 endorses the WIDA CLIMBS approach to designing English-language-learning instruction that has been created for WIDA, the organization working with 19 states in all aspects of instructional design and assessment for English language learners.

Understanding By Design--ISAT Extended (Reading) Response

The attached lesson plan is a modification of a guided-discovery lesson plan intended to assist English language learners (ELLs) work in collaborative groups and to use technology (Microsoft Word and electronic portfolios) to develop thinking and writing skills and strategies for dealing with grade-level appropriate ISAT Extended Response reading and writing prompts.
